I like gadgets. Whether they consolidate my music library, give me turn-by-turn directions, or make tedious tasks a little less mind-numbing, I appreciate the “fun” aspect of gadgets. Granted, not all of these devices are necessarily productive, but they have the potential.
While I am not necessarily an early adopter, (I generally like the initial bugs to get worked out first) I like reading about new developments in the world of technology and envisioning how something can work for me and if I could integrate it into my teaching.
Learning about blogs, wikis, and learning management systems (to skim the surface) has enabled me to imagine the amazing possibilities of a true 21st century classroom. I want students to understand that their ideas can be broadcast to a global audience through technology.
